Who we are

Working with communities, not simply for them.

Akadon Cares Foundation is a not-for-profit and non-political organisation, formally documented in its certified constitutional extract dated 9 September 2024. Our objectives span poverty reduction, health, education, inclusion, water and sanitation, the environment, youth and women's empowerment, agriculture, child protection and community development.

We hold our figures to the same standard as our programmes. Where a number is not yet verified, we say so plainly.

Steps in how we work

Accountable

Financial records are kept accurately and are to be audited annually by an independent auditor, as provided in our constitution.

How we work

Seven steps, in order, every time.

We seek to work with communities and relevant stakeholders rather than deliver externally designed interventions.

  1. 01

    Listen

Hear the community before we draw a plan.

  2. 02

    Understand

Map the real constraints on the ground.

  3. 03

    Partner

Agree roles with local leaders and institutions.

  4. 04

    Act

Deliver with local hands leading the work.

  5. 05

    Measure

Track what changed, with honest baselines.

  6. 06

    Learn

Record what did not work so it is not repeated.

  7. 07

    Sustain

Hand over so the community owns what is built. This is the step we judge ourselves by.
